Answers to Common Queries

How to Use

Dosage: Take as prescribed by your physician.
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet,as it has a special coating to protect it from stomach acid.
Timing: For maximum efficacy, take PANTAGUT-40 on an empty stomach, ideally 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast.

How it Works

Pantoprazole works by targeting the "proton pumps" (H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system) located in the lining of the stomach. These pumps are the final step in acid secretion. PANTAGUT-40 effectively switches off these pumps, significantly reducing the amount of hydrochloric acid released into the stomach.

Safety Advice

Liver Health: Consult your doctor if you have severe liver disease; a dose adjustment may be necessary.
Bone Health: Long-term use (more than a year) may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures. Your doctor may recommend calcium or Vitamin D supplements.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Inform your doctor before use; it is generally used only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Magnesium Levels: For those on long-term therapy, doctors may occasionally monitor blood magnesium levels.

What if You Forget?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten one.

Can I take PANTAGUT-40 as an instant "on-the-spot" antacid?

No. Unlike liquid antacids that neutralize existing acid, PANTAGUT-40 stops acid production at the source. It may take 1–3 days of consistent use to feel the full therapeutic effect.

Is it safe to take PANTAGUT-40 long-term?

While safe, long-term use should always be supervised by a doctor to ensure you are receiving the correct dose for your specific condition.

Can I take this while taking painkillers?

Yes, doctors often prescribe PANTAGUT-40 specifically to protect the stomach from the irritating effects of certain painkillers.
