CALPODD CV 325 | Cefpodoxime & Potassium Clavulanate Tablets

CALPODD CV 325 is a powerful synergistic antibiotic combination consisting of Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200 mg) and Potassium Clavulanate (125 mg).

While Cefpodoxime is a high-efficacy third-generation cephalosporin, many bacteria produce enzymes (beta-lactamases) that can deactivate it. The addition of Potassium Clavulanate (a beta-lactamase inhibitor) prevents this deactivation, making CALPODD CV 325 highly effective even against resistant bacterial strains.

Uses

CALPODD CV 325 is primarily prescribed for severe or recurrent infections:

  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infections:Acute sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.

  • Lower Respiratory Tract Infections:Community-acquired pneumonia and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs):Cystitis and kidney infections (pyelonephritis).

  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:Cellulitis, abscesses, and infected wounds.

  • Otitis Media:Acute infections of the middle ear, especially in cases where standard antibiotics have failed.

Benefits

  • Overcomes Resistance:Effectively treats "superbugs" that produce beta-lactamase enzymes.

  • Broad Spectrum:Provides comprehensive coverage against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

  • High Success Rate:Offers a higher clinical cure rate in chronic and recurring infections compared to plain Cefpodoxime.

  • Enhanced Stability:Designed to maintain therapeutic efficacy throughout the treatment course.

Side Effects

Commonly reported side effects are usually mild and may include:

  • Diarrhea or loose stools (most common)

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Abdominal pain

  • Skin rashes or hives

  • Oral thrush or vaginal yeast infection (due to prolonged use)
